Rainy Weather Alert: Car Accidents Increase with Wet Roads

One thing that Southern California drivers aren’t used to are wet roads. Our recent rainy days show us to be rather inadequate, in fact, in driving in inclement weather. We simply aren’t used to water on the roads, and the concept of slowing down due to increased danger on the roads is almost foreign. What is the result of rainy day driving on Orange County freeways? Lots of car accidents. You may need to consult with an Orange County car accident attorney to recover your losses.

A few incidents locally last week were due to hydroplaning. This occurs when water on the road prevents actual contact between the tires and the surface of the road. The loss of friction can cause a loss of control on the part of the driver. This can result in a loss of brakes, steering and power to the wheels. The vehicle spins or skids out of control until either the vehicle hits something or the water is gone and friction is again attained.

Hydroplaning is riskier under certain conditions: heavy rains, deep water, speeding, overloaded vehicles and poor tire maintenance. Fast driving is something we’re known for in Orange County. In the rain, this can be a major factor in the cause of serious auto accidents. If it’s raining, SLOW DOWN. Many rainy day accidents involve multiple vehicles, up to 4 or 5 may be part of a freeway collision. If you are an unfortunate victim of such an accident, pull over to the side of the road immediately. Exchange insurance information with the other drivers. File a police report. If you are injured, seek medical care.

If you were involved in a multiple car accident, filing an insurance claim can be very difficult. You may have 4 or 5 different companies and parties involved. Don’t just take the word of an adjuster who may contact you. You need the advise of a qualified and experienced Orange County car accident lawyer. Jeff Dawson is a personal injury attorney with offices in Irvine and can help you proceed with your auto accident lawsuit.

I recently got Auto insurance thru Progressive on March 23. And they were supposed to withdraw the money directly from the bank according to the agent. I already have my insurance card saying I have it for 6 months starting from March 23 to September 23. But they have not taken any money at all. And I haven’t gotten any notices about not them not getting any payments…. Has anyone else had trouble with progressive Insurance?
